lIMPOPO, SOUTH AFRICA
Of Soul and Joy returned to Limpopo for the third edition of its rural empowerment initiative, continuing its mission to use photography as a powerful tool for storytelling and self-expression. The 2024 program took place in Dan Village, near Tzaneen, from 25 November at Magoza Secondary School. The workshop aimed at young people aged 15 to 25, focused on both learners from the school and unemployed youth from the surrounding community. In total, 30 participants embarked on the intensive, two-week journey into the world of photography. Led by a team of accomplished mentors, including Jabulani Dhlamini, Sibusiso Bheka, Thandile Zwelibanzi, and Of Soul and Joy alumni, Vuyo Maabheka and Lunathi Mngxuma, the workshop offered hands-on experience through practical lessons, fieldwork, and location shoots. Each participant was provided access to professional equipment, such as cameras, laptops, and visual reference books, to support their learning and creative exploration.
