“Kumalo Street, post 1994”

With the aim to help Of Soul and Joy Students to develop bodies of work by exploring hidden histories and narratives embedded in street history.

During this period learners will choose their own relevant theme and objectives of the project will be met through mentorship, curatorial input and weekly photographic workshops.

Workshops with South African photographers Jabulani Dhlamini, Thandile Zwelibanzi, Andrew Tshabangu and Sabelo Mlangeni

Khumalo Street is an arterial street cutting through Thokoza, Johannesburg. Plagued by a wave of violence in the period between 1991 and 1994. OSJ students explore hidden histories & narratives embedded in the street today.
